World’s First Production Bentley Goes to Auction at Pebble Beach in August

Classic cars have a certain sophisticated appeal, full of vintage flair – complete with a touch of elegance. The world’s first and oldest Bentley car certainly fits that description perfectly. This beautiful Bentley (pictured above) which was once owned by Steve McQueen, is being placed on the auction block by Gooding & Co. of Santa Monica, California – up for sale at Pebble Beach in August 2011.

The 1921 3-liter Bentley is claimed to be the first Bentley ever to be delivered to a customer and with its intriguing and storied history, (also owned by Welshman, Ivor Llewelyn – the father of actor Desmond Llewelyn of James Bond films) this car is sure to spark the interest of hardcore vintage car collectors. Although Gooding & Co. has set a pre-auction estimate of $100,000 to $200,000 – this classic Bentley is expected to do considerably better.
