ROLEX open first flasghip store in New York

U.S. luxury watch retailer Tourneau inaugurated last week a new store in New York City at 53rd street and Madison Avenue, which includes the first New York Rolex freestanding boutique. The new store showcases a new concept with an open selling floor with eight large table/showcases of branded and vintage watches flanked by electronic images and displays on the walls. Customers will see watches grouped by brand under glass, and can look at any model with the assistance of a sales person—who will then make all sales via an iPad.

The store concept was designed by Eight Inc., which is behind brands such as Apple and Virgin Atlantic, to create a dramatic 3,135-square-foot store designed to make the process of watch-shopping interactive and accessible using curated displays, educational tools, expert assistance and technological innovation. More than 30 brands are presented, and the space also boasts New York's first freestanding Rolex boutique.

Among the Tourneau store’s other highlights is a “discovery wall” where watches from young or smaller brands are displayed, additional wall displays of the newest models from numerous brands, and an always-on electronic screen visible from Madison Avenue. Established in 1900, Tourneau is the leading retailer of luxury watches in the United States, offering more than 100 world famous brands, including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Omega, Breitling, and TAG Heuer, in more than 8,000 styles.
